OMS was engaged to establish a safe method for removing a severely degraded exhaust stack in an operating plant with close to no remaining structural integrity.
The team developed a safe work procedure centred around a custom lifting device that was installed around the compromised stack, providing a sound structure to lift from, lay down and contain any loose debris during the lift.
The project included animating the removal sequence as well as detailed design of the custom lifting device to AS 4991 considering each major design step.
The scope of services was rounded out with comprehensive risk management and the provision of associated documentation to effectively communicate and record the process.
